PRESIDENTS UPDATE AUGUST 2008

As the season comes to an end the Bullcreek Leeming Junior Football Club

have teams gearing up who will be involved in finals

At this point it is likely the club will have up to 5 teams vying for places which is a fantastic achievement, seeing how the club policy is to ensure all teams are equal and not to concentrate on building super teams.

The club realises they could have more teams competing in finals if they where to create stronger teams, however the club's aim is to create an environment for players to enjoy their football and return the following season.

Since my last update the club has been involved in attempting to erect floodlights at Peter Ellis with the assistance of the Melville City Council. This will be a long and arduous task. The cost will be likely to be in the vicinity of $200,000 plus. The club is striving to seek sponsorship to offset some of the cost's for this project. The committee believe this proposal is a huge step forward for the club and will enable more teams to utilise the venue for training of a night time and alleviate the pressure and deterioration that is currently occurring at Beasley Oval. It will also increase the night games for Auskick which will benefit the club enormously. The time span for this project if the proposal is successful will not be expected to be completed until 2009 - 2010.

At the moment the plans have been submitted to the council's planning department for examination. I will keep you informed of progress as it is received.

During July the club was awarded another AFL Rising Star Nominee Award through Garrick Ibbotson. A great achievement for Garrick and the Bullcreek Leeming Junior Football Club. Another junior who has achieved success along the way is Brandon Matera who was selected in the Western Australian 16's State Team. To date the report's are Brandon has been having a great carnival not only kicking goals but also contributing to the teams achievements. He has been named in the teams best players on several occasions. The club wishes Brandon all the best and hopes he has a successful carnival.

Luke Doyle a former junior from Bullcreek played his first league game for East Fremantle against Swan District on Saturday 19 July 2008. The club congratulates Luke and hope there are many more games in store for him

Bullcreek also had some former juniors playing in the recent country carnival who all performed well and where selected in the W.A. Country Squad they are Kane Bebbington, Nathan Elari, Justin Wilson and Kurt Hinkley. We wish them all the best on their achievements and hope they perform admirably.

In closing this will be the last year Dale & Deb Putland will be involved on the committee. The Club would like to thank them for their service especially Dale who served 4 years concurrent as President and was the longest standing President in the history of the Club. We wish them well in their future years and I am sure we will see them occasionally down at the bar on a Friday night
